A very rare fully original English mid 18th century sedan chair. The chair is made of leather which later in its life has been tarred. The chair originally started out life as a chair for a lady but was then sold onto the taxi market in the late 18th century. At this point the chair was tarred and most of the gilt bronze trimmings were blacked also. The chair was turned into a taxi and was given a unique registration number which can still be seen painted to the back of the chair.
The chair retains most of its original feasters and the leather is in unusually great condition with only one tear (see images)
