A most unusual country house bamboo gate with turned brass finals to the top. Constructed of a rectangular bamboo frame with six inset tapered bamboo rods creating a strong but lightweight gate or door.
Removed from the cellars of a local country house in the 1950s we can only assume it was designed as a gate to an internal storage space such as a cellar or game larder or pantry. Originally it had two leather straps o the left hand side acting as hinges but they have since perished. An unusual and decorative English Country House item.
